This movie is wonderfully steeped in the (then) emerging fears and spectacles of massive rockets but with an important, dramatic focus on the idyllic setting and characters. 

All of the performances are great and masterfully directed. There are many subtly funny moments that don’t derail the movie to a full comedy.

The cinematography worked really well for me. The shots are never technically overcomplicated but still interesting and highly dramatic. It takes a classic Hollywood approach to lighting and shooting faces. The image composition and framing is consistently thoughtful.

I could continue speaking to how well Calabuch is depicted. It contrasts humanity with technological progress without condemning either, which still feels relevant. Because of the carefully balanced tone and interesting camera compositions, there are many moments where the writing can feel proto-surreal in a way that would be inviting for Twin Peaks fans.
